Let’s face it. The summer heat and humidity can wreak havoc on your lovely locks but it doesn’t have to be that way. These tips used will keep your beautiful mane looking its best no matter what the weather is.

Protection from the Sun

Try powder sunscreen to prevent your roots from getting too oily from sun lotion. You can also use the powder sunscreen on your face to prevent excess shine. Also, remember to use a UV protectant spray, which will protect color-treated hair from the sun.

Avoid Heated Styling Tools in the Hot Summer Months

To prevent excess drying of the hair, opt for natural styles, create beachy waves and loose curls by twisting hair up on a bun or braiding it overnight and loosening up the locks in the morning. Try spritzing salt water spray on hair and crunching it for some relaxed, beachy, summer-friendly texture and body.

Check with the Local Weatherman

Sometimes the weather conditions are simply unfortunate and you need to hedge your bets. For instance, if you have curly hair and you are attending an Oceanside wedding on a 105 degree day, skip the blowout. It’s not going to last and may end up looking wild. Instead, embrace your textured hair and opt for a messy style that looks intentional. Try pulling back your hair back in a messy bun or braid, and loosen some of the flyways around your face. Pop a fresh flower in to finish the look. Adorbs!
