Mothers of the Bride can count on a few things. You can trust that RapidLash will help you look your best for the big day by nourishing and conditioning your lashes and brows. Also, you need to prepare yourself for a challenging search for the perfect ensemble that will not outshine the Bride. Mothers of the Bride, do not despair. We have the gifted stylist Julia Mehrmann of Mehrmann Style Company to share her top three tips for finding the right dress.
Regardless of how close your relationship is with your daughter or how involved you are in the planning process, it is important to remember that this is her day. She will be so grateful to know that you understand that. Ask for a palette of colors to choose from, her preference for style and formality, and whether or not she wants to go with you to find your dress. Keep in mind that she may be overwhelmed, so don’t be offended if she can’t go shopping with you.
Keeping in mind the guidelines dictated by the Bride, go on the hunt for a dress or outfit that feels like the best version of you. Find a cut that feels beautiful and comfortable since you will be moving around, mingling, and dancing all night. Play to your shape! If you feel less confident in your arms, find a dress with sleeves or two-piece ensemble with a jacket. If your legs aren’t your strong point, opt for a full-length gown or a pants suit.
If your daughter is long-distance but still wants to be involved in finding your day-of attire, using a program like Skype or Face Time is a wonderful solution! If those don’t work, texting or emailing photos (be sure to have someone else take them) is always a wonderful option. Bring a friend and make it a fun day of shopping followed by dinner and champagne. Finally, utilize the personal shoppers and stylists available at bridal shops and retailers. They do this for a living and can offer you sound advice on which pieces are right for you.
Julia, thank you for helping our ladies find the perfect look for this delightful day. Ladies, we hope you enjoy this special time and congratulations on the wedding!
