Holiday parties and New Year’s Eve celebrations are the time to have fun with your makeup and look your most alluring. This year we are seeing both the classic holiday and retro looks. To be sure that we get it right, RapidLash consulted with Kelly Bruce, owner of Bella Brides Makeup. Lashes are trendy now, so top off each of these stunning holiday looks with a little mascara on your RapidLashes, if necessary.

Focus on Dark Berry Lips

The dramatic red and dark berry colored lipsticks and stains that are always in for the holiday season are back this year. Choose soft and natural tones or a shimmery metallic on the eyelid and lots of mascara if you are doing the darker berry lipstick. The red lip allows for something playful on the eyes, but just not a dark heavy look. Think soft and simple shimmery shadow in pink champagne, light grey and off white. A little bit of a winged liner is permissive but avoid pairing with a smoky eye.

Focus on the Eyes

If the eyes are the focus go heavy with fun metallic shadow. I love the look of a dark smoky eye with a metallic gray shimmer with heavy liner and lashes. Many brands have come out with metallic jewel tone colors for their holiday collections that are festive, shimmery and party perfection. If you chose a daring color shadow, you want to keep the lips simple with a light color and shimmery gloss.
Try your favorite jewel tone with a peachy pink shimmery lip gloss, paired with a matte blush or bronzer.

Don’t Overdo the Glimmer & Shimmer

Pick whichever look you want to go with and stick to it. You just don’t want to be overly shimmery and sparkly so pick two areas, maximum. You can have a shimmery lip and eye, but not cheek, eye and lips. You want the skin to be subtly glowing and dewy.
